What the words mean.

The trade has its own initials and everyone says them differently. Here are the terms in plain language, and below them the names people actually search for.

Order taking (παραγγελιοληψία): Taking the order at the table, on the waiter’s own device, with no paper pad. The order reaches the kitchen and the till at the same moment.
POS, the till (ταμείο): Point of sale. Where the bill closes: prices, VAT, change, receipt.
PDA: The waiter’s handheld. It used to be a dedicated terminal; today it is the phone or tablet the staff already carry.
KDS, kitchen display (οθόνη κουζίνας): Kitchen Display System. A screen in the kitchen showing orders with a timer, instead of paper slips clipped above the pass.
Local server (τοπικός server): The computer inside the venue that holds the data and coordinates the devices. Because it is ten metres away rather than on another continent, orders arrive even when the line drops.
Offline-first: A design where normal operation does not assume internet. It is not an emergency mode: it is the default, and the internet is the extra.
Floor plan (κάτοψη τραπεζιών): The screen that shows the floor as it is: which table is open, how long it has been seated, what it owes.
Bill splitting (χώρισμα λογαριασμού): Splitting one open bill into two or more, by person or by item, without re-entering anything.
Stock and recipes (απόθεμα, συνταγολόγιο): Tracking ingredients in grams and units, tied to each dish’s recipe, so you know what it costs and when it runs out.
Station and shift (πόστο, βάρδια): A station is a work point (bar, grill, till). A shift is a period with its own cash count and its own reports.
Thermal printer (θερμικός εκτυπωτής): The inkless printer that produces kitchen tickets and receipts. The hard part is correct Greek output, and it is one of the first things that breaks.
ΑΔΗΜΕ, the fiscal device: The device that issues the fiscal document. Today Efaeto works alongside it, not in place of it.
myDATA: The Greek tax authority platform that receives invoice data. VAT is computed per rate and documents queue with automatic retry.
Declaration of conformity A.1054/2024: The certification a system needs before it can replace the fiscal device. For Efaeto it is not finished yet, and we say so before anyone signs.
Revenue commission (προμήθεια τζίρου): A percentage of sales, which several platforms charge. Efaeto takes no commission in any plan: the price is the same at ten orders or ten thousand.

The name

Efaeto, or Εφαέτο.

The name is written Efaeto in Latin characters and Εφαέτο in Greek.

You will see it at three addresses. efaeto.gr is the Greek edition, efaeto.com the English one, and efaeto.app leads to the Greek one. It is the same product and the same company whichever you type.
